The Curriculum

A custom curriculum for “Hanna’s Story” was developed by Kristin Thompson, former education program coordinator at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and founder of Humanus Network. With more than 20 years of experience in education, curriculum design, and educator professional learning, Kristin partners with schools, museums, and educational organizations to advance high-quality Holocaust education. Her work emphasizes inquiry, historical thinking, and evidence-based pedagogy, helping educators engage students with Holocaust history accurately, thoughtfully, and meaningfully. The Classroom Experience

Within each group of 6–8, two or three participants will use the VR headsets while others listen, observe, and prepare for discussion. After the experience, the group will transition to a facilitated conversation station where participants reflect together on what they saw, heard, and felt.

A ‘Plug and Play’ Classroom Aid

“Hanna’s Story” comes pre-packaged with VR equipment, sound, technical support, and two lesson facilitators to assist teachers. In each session, approximately 20–30 students can experience “Hanna’s Story” through a headset or projected on a screen. “Hanna’s Story” is recommended for grades 7–12.
